Day 1 – Between animals and waterfalls
Early morning departure (6 a.m.) from Playa Colorada beach. After a one-hour boat ride, you’ll arrive at the Sirena Biological Station — a unique place where pristine nature meets human presence. Thanks to the wildlife being accustomed to visitors, animal sightings are frequent here. Monkeys, tapirs, and agoutis are commonly seen. After lunch, the scenery begins to change.
The boat will take you to the more remote San Pedrillo, where the conditions are much more rugged: steep trails, sharp slopes, and dense, almost untouched forest. Along the way, you’ll encounter a majestic waterfall and pass through an area of ancient trees, their shadows concealing predators and rare birds. End the evening at the Ranger Station, nestled in the heart of the jungle, with a peaceful dinner away from civilization.
Day 2 – Morning in the rainforest
The day begins with the sounds of the rainforest greeting you as you wake up. After breakfast, you’ll hike along lesser-known trails on a roughly 10 km route, culminating in a refreshing dip at another of the wild waterfalls. The final stop is the Los Planes mountain area, where a taxi will take you back to Drake Bay.
